1. One Direction

One Direction (often abbreviated as 1D) is a British-Irish boy band formed in 2010 in London, UK, on the occasion of the show The X Factor. During the broadcast of the contest, the quintet, consisting of Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, was mentored by Simon Cowell, the show's creator and manager that season of the category of groups. Its formation came after the five members did their auditions and were expelled from the competition. After that, Nicole Scherzinger, one of the judges, suggested that the five were part of a group, which eventually called One Direction.1 The group eventually came in third place in the contest, but still Cowell paid a record deal with Syco Music so they could launch a disc.1 February 3
